Location of Beach

Baga
is located in Badrez Taluka between Calangute and Anjuna beach. The beach is
a portion of 30 km stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa.
The beach starts at Fort Aguada and finally ends at Chapora beach and Fort.
Baga is 10 kms away from Mapusa and 18 kms from Goa's capital, Panaji.
Beach Overview
If you wish to retreat from the fast pace of your daily life, then Baga is
the place for you.
Originally an extension of the famous Calangute beach, you will find Baga
more isolated than its neighbour. Baga beach stands amidst high hills and
wide open unbound - deep blue Arabian Sea. The beach is protected by a rocky
headland and white waves flap on its rocky shores. At its northern end, the
beach presents a picture-perfect view at the point where a small river
merges with the Arabian sea.
Since long time, Baga has attracted global and domestic tourists alike for
two reason - sun bath and sea bath. Apart from sunbath and seabath, Baga
beach attracts tourists for its outstanding view of the sunset, which is
markedly different from that of other beaches. Today, Baga is lined with
endless number of shops, restaurants and hotels, but the beach is still very
beautiful, especially when seen against the thickly forested Baga Hill.

Water Sports : Baga beach offers plenty of water sports.
You can go for parasailing, water skiing, windsurfing and other water
sports, but, only if you have enough expertise in it.
Leisure Activities : The less-crowded Baga beach is the
perfect place for you to try out your own hobbies. Read a book, listen to
music on your walkman, hum a tune, play with sand, or chat with your family
and friends - the choice is yours.
Nightlife : Nightlife in Baga is considered the liveliest
in the region. It is home to some of the biggest hot-spots by night in Goa,
including Tito's and Cafe Mambo. Visit the Tito's which is highly popular
among the tourists because it has the only dance floor and fantastic sound
system outside the big hotels of Baga. Enjoy a candle lit dinner on the
beach, go for a traditional Goan meal in any beach side shacks or simply
take a cup of real espresso coffee.
Fishing at Baga : The fishing seashore of Baga Beach will
tempt you to go for fishing. While fishing, you will see a large number of
fishermen returning with their daily catch in the morning or evening.

Baga Retreat House : Walk up the Baga Hill to reach the
Baga Retreat House. Established in 1953, Baga Retreat House is dedicated to
St. Francis Xavier. The house perched atop the Baga Hill is also known as
the Casa de Retiros. Move further on a path from the house to the other side
of hill till it comes out at the Flea Market. Go on this adventurous walk
and get the magnificent views along the way.
Baga River : The river flowing along the beach offers a
pleasant diversion to tourist, especially children who love water. Get a
spectacular sight at the point where the sea meets the river and enjoy the
music as the sea crashes against a group of black rocks.
Medicinal Spring : If you are a health conscious, then the
Medicinal Spring is the perfect place for you. To reach the Medicinal
Springs, take the narrow path leading past the Bom Viagem Convent that leads
to springs at Mottant. Medicinal Spring is an ideal place for picnic and
bathing as its water is believed to have medicinal properties.
The Sea Cure : Practiced since hundred of years, the Sea
Cure in Baga attracts thousands of local Goans. Every year during the month
of May, the Goans flock the Baga Beach to take sea sure. The sea cure is a
sure shot remedy for body ailments like arthritis and joint pains and it
circulates the blood properly in the body.
Best Time to Visit

Baga
beach can be visited anytime during the year, but heavy rainfall and hot
sunny days between June to October can cause inconvenience for you. So, the
best time visit the beach is between the months of November to February.

How to Reach
The Dabolim airport is located at a distance of 50 kms, which is connected
to major cities of India. You have to take the pre-paid or private taxis to
reach Baga. Nearest railheads are located at Thivim (17 kms) and Panaji (18
kms). Express and Superfast trains run to Panaji from important places of
India. Frequent buses are available to Baga from Mapusa and Panaji
throughout the day. From Panaji, the bus usually takes 30 minutes to reach
Baga.
