Varca Beach lies in the Salcete Taluka, close to Fatrade, Benaulim and
Cavelossim beaches. Benaulim is just 2 kms away from Varca and Margao is 5
kms away from Varca.
Beach Overview
Often
referred to as two beaches - Varca and Fatrade or Pedde - Varca is one of
longest stretches of beach in Salcete Taluka. Varca is also one of the
loneliest areas in Salcete taluka and is much cleaner and quieter than most
of the popular Goan beaches.
So, if you are looking for a place where you can just laze, laze and
laze..., then Varca beach come as a wonderful option for you. After a fun
filled day at Goa, you must visit the Varca beach if you are seeking
solitude. Also, situated amidst a pictursque surrounding, filled with clean
white sands and dotted with black lava rocks at certain places, Varca beach
offers a heaven like sight.
Varca has several beach shacks where you can taste a variety of Goan dishes
and seafood at very low prices. There are numerous eating joints around Dona
Sylvia, which offer entire package of good food, drink and excellent
services at quite reasonable rates.
Beach Attractions
Water Sports : In Varca, water sports operators offer a
number of options for you. Here you can indulge yourself in fast water
sports like jet-ski and speedboat rides. Windsurfing, water-skiing, banana
rides, bump rides and parasailing are other water sports which you can try
at Varca. The Leela Palace Hotel at Mobor- Cavelossim Beach also has a water
sports set up, which will surely thrill you.
Swimming : Varca Beach is generally considered safe for
swimming, but do not venture more than waist-deep into the sea unless you
are a strong swimmer.
Leisure Activities : Dolphin watching trips, fishing trips
and river cruises are the popular leisure activities available at Varca
Beach. The leisure trips are offered by the beachside resorts and operators.
If you are lucky enough, in your dolphin watching trips you can even touch
the dolphins.
Biking : If you want to warm up yourself, biking is a
perfect option for you. Hiring a bicycle and driving along the firm sand can
be a great fun for you. Biking is also the fastest way to travel on this
beach stretch.
Nightlife : To enjoy the nightlife, visit the nearby
Mobor- Cavelossim beach. The Aqua resort at the beach offers an interesting
blend of an entertainment lounge, discotheque and slot machine casino. At
the Holiday Inn Resort, you will only find pure slot machine casino. There
are two famous nightspots which are open till the wee hours, especially on
weekends.
Nearby Attractions
The 'frosted-icing' 17 th century, Our lady of Glories Church announces
your arrival in Varca. Close to Varca beach, the Benaulim beach (2 kms) and
Margao (5 kms) are other major attractions. Benaulim is a calm and pretty
beach, just 2 kms north of Varca. Although Margao is not much ahead in
tourist attraction, but due to rich rail track and navigable communication,
the city has flourished as a centre of commerce.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the Varca beach is between the months of November to
February. During these months, the climate of Goa remains pleasant and you
can enjoy a number of water sports and leisure activities. You should avoid
the time between June and October as the region observe heavy rainfall
during this period.
Where to Stay
Limited non-five-star accommodation are available along the beach. There is
just one mid-range beachside hotel. However, plenty of accommodation is
available in budget and economy class hotels situated away from the beach.
Cheap or expensive, you may choose any Varca hotel as per your budget and
needs. Some of the finest Varca hotels include the Club Mahindra Varca Beach

How to Reach
Varca is 40 kms away from Goa's only airport, Dabolim airport. Flights of
Indian airlines and several private operators connect this airport with
Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. You can hire pre-paid and private taxis to
reach the Varca Beach. Margao Station (18 kms) is the nearest railhead from
Varca. Frequent buses leave from Margao's city bus stand to Varca. From
Margao, you can also take auto-rickshaws which are easily available. For
local movement, use the cycles and motorbikes, which are available on hire.
