
India's
western state of Gujarat is situated along the Arabian sea and visited by
large number of tourists every year. With about 20% of the country's total
industrial output, Gujarat is considered the wealthiest states as well as
the most industrialized state of the country. Gujarat is bordered by
Rajasthan to the north-east, Madhya Pradesh to the east, Maharashtra and the
Union territories of Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the south and
Pakistan in the north-west.
Gujarat has a long and varied history and the state has a number of
interesting places to visit. Being a centre for Jains since a long time,
Gujarat is home to some of the famous Jain temples of the country. The Jains
are an influential and energetic group that's why Gujarat is one of the
wealthier state of India, having a number of important industries. Besides
Jain temples, other major attractions of Gujarat include the rare Asiatic
Lions in the Gir Forest and the mesmerising Indo-Saracenic architecture of
Ahmedabad.
Gandhinagar, a planned city is the capital of the state of Gujarat.
Ahmedabad is commercial centre of Gujarat which is just 32 kms away from
Gandhinagar. Surat is another important city of Gujarat which is known for
diamond and textile industries.
