Overview of Kangra
Kangra is a beautiful valley located in the Himachal Pradesh State. The
place used to be an independent district before the formation of the state.
Kangra is famous for its landscape and a little population that lives here.
With several popular tourist places, like Dharamsala, in its vicinity the
valley is one play ground tourists step upon.
Trekking at Kangra
Kangra lies situated in the lower Himalayas with an average altitude of
about 2400 metres. The slopes run in a zig zag orders and the trails are
inviting for the rock climbers. A number of streams descends down the
mountains and through the valley. The slopes are gentle and feature pine
forests and orchards.
The famous Dhauladhar Ranges rises above the town and envelopes round it.
From the valley floor the mountains rise to a good 14,000 feet. Through the
mountains are some amazing treks and passes that lead further to other
places like Mc Leod Ganj and Dharamsala. Forests, Shepherd trails provide a
unique opportunity of exploring the sky reaching peaks. The Indrahar Pass
that lies at an altitude of about 4380 metres offer mind blowing views of
the countryside and the great Himalayas.
