Overview
South India Tropical Trip, a specially customized 15 Days tour provides you an excellent chance to explore the magical land of Kerala and neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu. On Tropical South Tour Package you will be provided a journey along the quiet backwaters and lagoons of Kerala on board a traditional houseboat and visit sleepy villages en-route to the fascinating old spice town of Cochin. Away from the coast the wildlife sanctuaries at Eravikulam, Periyar and Kottayam are home to numerous wild elephant, leopard, tiger, sloth bear, the rare Nilgiri Thar and an abundance of colourful bird life. We visit the old Raj town of Munnar sitting below the towering rock face of Anamundi (2695m), Kerala's highest peak. Surrounded by hills carpeted with tea plantations, grassland and verdant forest, this is a walker's delight! Christianity and even Judaism have left their mark on the coastal regions but it is Hinduism that dominates the countryside, producing one of India's most elaborately decorated temples at Madurai. We finish on the sweeping beaches of Kovalam with the chance to relax, soak up the sun, swim in the warm blue waters and try the delicious fresh seafood.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival Quilon (Kollam)
Arrival to Trivandrum airport, meeting and assistance upon arrival. Next drive to Quilon or Kollam which is located some 71 kms from the capital city Thiruvananthapuram. Expect a heartiest welcome and assistance to the hotel room at Quilon. Start your trip from the beautiful backwater destination Quilon. At Quilon a lot of activities awaiting for you.

Day 2 : Quilon - Alleppey
On day two after breakfast set on the journey with a backwater cruise, on board a houseboat meant for Alleppey. The backwater stretches at Alleppey or Alappuzha are superb and you will really enjoy the trip.

Day 3 : Alleppey - Cochin
Following breakfast drive to the port city of Cochin. The harbour and the ancient city withholds many treasures. A journey through here presents glimpses from the past. There would be a guide providing the assistance and information about the visiting places.

Day 4 : Sightseeing tour of Cochin
Explore the beauty of some renowned sites of Kochi (Cochin) in motorboat cruise. Sight-seeing in and around the harbour of Cochin is delightful. The cruise will be arranged by us and you will be escorted to the destinations. Some popular destinations of Cochin include Jewish Synagogue, Mattancherry Palace, St. Francis Church and Chine Fishing Nets.

Day 5 : Cochin - Munnar
Early morning after a lavish breakfast drive to the hills of Munnar. The place that stands atop the low lying hills of Western Ghats provide ample adventure and excitement. The green and clean environment is healthy as well romantic. Don't expect to get lost for professional assistance would be provided.

Day 6 : Munnar - Anamudi
Day 6 is meant for trek to Anamudi Peak. Stroll through tea plantations and reach the highest peak of the Western Ghats, Anamudi Peak. The trek and climb is more than a challenge. Encounter a number of scenic spots en route the peak. Porters would be arranged on request.

Day 7 : Anamudi - Madurai
Today we will leave for the temple town of Madurai. Reach the famous town of Madurai. The place is known as the cultural and ancient commercial centre in the Tamil Nadu state. Madurai has some magnificent temples including the much coveted Sree Meenakshi Temple.

Day 8 : Sightseeing tour of Madurai
On day eight a visit to colourful Sree Meenakshi Temple would be arranged. To get a local touch and experience you can opt for a cycle rickshaw ride through the town.

Day 9 : Madurai - Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
Following breakfast drive to Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to wild elephants, tigers and many other species of wild animals. A jungle guide would be accompanying you in the park premises. See the variety of animals in their natural habitat roaming or relaxing under the shade of tree.

Day 10 : Boat Ride across Periyar Lake
On day ten explore the wildlife sanctuary and get a motorboat ride on famous Periyar Lake. While you are on the motorboat ride you can herds of elephants either drinking water or taking bath in the lake. You will be really amazed by the wonderful sights and lush green surroundings.

Day 11 : Periyar - Kumarakom
Reach for the famous backwater destination Kumarakom via Kottayam Bird Sanctuary. The place is beautiful with surplus mangrove gardens abutting the banks of the backwaters and there are many bird species to be spotted.

Day 12 : Kumarakom - Kovalam
Drive to the tropical beaches of Kovalam. The beach is one of the best in the state. The gentle surf and mangrove shades makes it a beautiful site. On arrival check into your hotel and relax for few hours. Evening you may go for some leisure activities or do some shopping in beachside markets.

Day 13 - 14 : Beach Holidays at Kovalam
Enjoy a perfect holiday on the beach for two days. Enjoy the sun and surf for two days on this beautiful beach. You can also avail services of ayurveda resorts and centres located close to the beach.

Day 15 : Kovalam Departure
Prepare for the departure from Kovalam. The crew will be assisted to their respective departure stations.

Fantastic trip, beautiful sights and overall very nice people. I enjoyed the boat cruise across the periyar lake, for the first time I saw wildanimals so closely. Seeing the herds of elephants was a thrilling experience. I will remember this tour for a long time.


This was my third trip with Trinetra tours, but this time my travelling experience many times better than my previous tours. Transportation and accommodation facilities provided by Trinetra was awesome. Amongst the various places I liked the town of Cochin very much. Trinetra is best tour operator and I would suggest it to all.


Oh! Great trip, i never expected it would so hilarious. Our tour guide Chandan was a nice person and his sense of humour was great. All through the trip he guided us very well. One night stay at houseboat was also exciting. On the whole, it was a wonderful blend of adventure and sightseeing.
