Introducing Jamshedpur 
Jamsehdpur is a city situated in the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Popularly known as the 'Steel City', Jamshedpur is the base of Tata Iron and
Steel Co. Jamshedpur was founded by the late Jasmshedji Nusserwanji Tata and
was named as Jamshedpur in 1919 in tribute to its founder. Set on the Chota
Nagpur Plateau, Jamshedpur is surrounded by the beautiful Dalma Hills. The
Subarnrekha and Kharkai rivers border the Northern and Western part of the
city respectively. Also known as Tatanagar, Jamshedpur is one of the best
and well planned industrial townships of India. Jamshedpur is dotted by
acres of verdant parks and lush gardens and provide a pleasant retreat to
the local people from the pressures of everyday life. One of the most scenic

How to Reach Jamshedpur
By Air : Jamshedpur has its own airport at Sonari, mostly
used by corporate airplanes and for gliding lessons. Nearest commercial
airports are located in Ranchi and Kolkata. Flights of Indian Airlines, Air
Deccan connect Ranchi with Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and other cities of India.
By Train : The railway station of Jamshedpur is known as
Tatanagar which is an important railhead on the South Eastern Railway.
Tatanagar is connected by several trains with major cities of India like
Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Chennai, Ranchi etc.
By Road : National Highway 33 and
National Highway 2 connects Jamshedpur with most of the imporatant cities of
India including Delhi and Kolkata. Regular deluxe and ordinary bus services
are available from Jamshedpur to Ranchi, Patna, Gaya, Kolkata etc.
Local Transport : For local transport Mini Buses,
Auto-rickshaws, Taxis and Cycle rickshaws are available in all parts of the

Tourist Attractions in Jamshedpur
Jubilee Park : Jubilee Park was presented by Tata Steel to
the city of Jamsehdpur on the completion of its 50 years. The park was
inaugurated in 1956 by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of
India. Spreading over an area of over 225 acres the park is dotted
picturesque flower beds and illuminated fountains. Jubilee Park has a
special rose garden, a beautiful lake and an avenue of specially trimmed
Ashok trees. The recently introduced laser show and the musical fountains
inside the park is a unique, educative and entertaining spectacle. Jubilee
Park is also a favourite place for morning walkers, joggers, cyclists and
anglers.
Jubilee Amusement Park : Jubilee Amusement Park is a
special gift to the children of Jamshedpur city. In fact, the park has
redefined entertainment in the city and provides entertainment that was only
available in the metro cities. The adjoining green hillocks and the
waterbody provide a superb ambience for an outing or picnics. Here the
children can enjoy games like whirling in the wind, dashing cars, rolling
till the moon, derby riding, caterpillar ride and a 75-meter slide.
Tata Steel Zoological Park : A well-maintained park, Tata
Steel Zoological Park is situated in one corner of the Jubilee Park. A
variety of faunal species resided inside the park in conditions close to
their natural habitat. Inside the zoo, the 'Safari Park' lies which provides
the visitors a chance to take a drive through a wooded area where animals
roam free and uncaged. Adjacent to the park is Jayanti Sarovar which offer
excellent boating facilities alongwith idyllic scenery.
Sir Dorabji Tata Park : Situated near the Keenan Stadium,
Sir Dorabji Tata Park hosts Jamshedpur annual flower show in December. When
you reach the park, the well-manicured lawns and flower beds and beautifully
lit fountains will mesmerize you.
Rivers' Meet : River's meet the beautiful confluence of
the Kharkhai and Subarnarekha river lies at the northwest tip of the city.
It is a popular picnic spot and people thronged the place in large number
alongwith their family.
Hudco Lake : An artificial lake, Hudco Lake lies in the
picturesque and hilly terrain of Telco Colony. The lake is a delightful spot
for those who want to spend some pleasant time in nature's lap. Nearby is a
hillock which provides a breathtaking view of the surrounding areas.
Bhatia Park : A beautiful park of the city, Bhatia Park is
located at Shastri Nagar along the banks of the river Subernareka.
Keenan Stadium : Keenan Stadium is one of the most
famous stadiums of India and many International cricket matches have been
played here. Once Keenan stadium was considered the most beautiful cricket
stadium of India.
JRD Tata Sports Complex : JRD Tata Sports Complex is a
huge sports complex and it has a football ground and an eight-lane
mono-synthetic track. In addition to football, facilities for other sports
like tennis, table tennis, hockey, volleyball, handball, basketball, boxing
and a modern gymnasium are available at this complex.
Russi Mody Centre of Excellence (RMCE) :
Russi Mody Centre of Excellence, a unique structure is located just
outside the Jubilee Park. It houses many professional associations of
Jamshedpur and the Tata Steel Archives, where you can see important
documents related to the history of the Tata Steel Company and the city of
Jamshedpur.
Tourist Attractions Around Jamshedpur
Dalma Hill and Wildlife Sanctuary : Dalma Hill is situated
north of Subarnarenkha river, stretching 16 km from east to west. The steep
slopes of Dalma offers excellent opportunities for trekking and mountain
climbing. Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary sprawls over an area of 193 sq. km across
the Dalma hill. You can spot the wild elephants, barking deer, sloth bears,
leopards, tigers, porcupines etc. in this wildlife sanctuary.
Dimna Lake : Dimna Lake lies at a distance of 13 kms from
the city centre, at the foot of the Dalma Hills. An artificial reservoir,
Dimna Lake is an ideal spot for an outing or picnics. Dimna Lake is one of
the main source for the city's drinking water and offers the facilities for
water sports like jet-skiing/rowing.
Ghatshila : Situated 35 kms east of Jamshedpur, Ghatshila
is the birth-place of late Bibhuti Bhushan Bandyapadhaya, a famous writer.
Ghatshila is famous for Timber industries.
Musabani : Musabani is 40 kms from away from Jamshedpur
and known for its copper mines.
Dasam Falls : Jharkhand's most beautiful falls, Dasam
Falls is about 90 kms away from Jamshedpur on Tata - Ranchi road.
