forestry products. A newly formed state, Jharkhand was carved out of the
southern part of Bihar state on 15th November 2000. Jharkhand is bordered by
the state of Bihar to the north, state of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to
the west, Orissa to the south and West Bengal to the east.
Earlier the state was formed with 18 districts of south Bihar, later six
new districts were formed namely Sahebjung, Ramgarh, Khunti, Jamtara,
Latehar and Saraikela Kharsawan. Presently the state has 24 districts, the
idustrical city of Ranchi is its capital. Besides Ranchi, some of the major
cities of Jharkhand are Jamsehdpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Sindri, Hazaribagh,
Daltonganj, Gumla, Giridih and Deoghar.
Jharkhand is home to some of the country's highly industrialized cities
such as Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bokaro and Dhanbad. Due to varied topography of
Jharkhand is blessed with hills, rivers, water falls and a rich variety of
floral and faunal species. You can see a variety of flora and fauna in the
