Land of Tiger - Indian Jungle

Overview
Immortalised by The Jungle Book, Northern India is home to many National Parks, each with a unique character, and which provide numerous species with a safe haven. On this trip we visit three tiger parks and the bird sanctuary at Bharatpur, to enjoy some magnificent wildlife in its natural environment. Ranthambore, former hunting reserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur, boasts of large numbers of Sambar, Chital and Nilgai. Kanha is one of India's most spectacular and exciting parks, covering a horse-shoe shaped valley with grasslands and forests teeming with varieties of Deer, Monkey and Wild Pig. Bandhavgarh, one of the smaller and least visited National Parks, enjoys an impressive setting with a stunning cliff-top fort overlooking grasslands, birch forests and bamboo that provide cover for the indigenous wildlife. Away from the parks we sample the extraordinary culture of the region as we visit the temples of Khajuraho with their erotic carvings and the impossibly romantic Taj Mahal.

Day 1 : Arrive Delhi – Ranthambore
Arrival to Delhi airport, meeting and assitance upon arrival. Our representatives will take you to your hotel. Afternoon we board a train to Ranthambore.

Overnight : Resort at Ranthambore
Day 2 : Wildlife viewing at Ranthambore National Park
On day three after breakfast we proceed on full-day wildlife viewing trip of Ranthambore National Park. Jeep and Elephant Safaris are ideal way to explore the park. Optional visit to ancient forts, temple and villages.

Overnight : Resort at Ranthambore

Day 3 : Wildlife viewing at Ranthambore National Park
Following early morning breakfast we move towards the national park for viewing wildlife in their natural habitat. Optional trips to ancient forts, temple, villages and nearby places.

Day 4 : Ranthambore – Bharatpur
Early morning after breakfast drive to Bharatpur. Explore the bird sanctuary by cycle rickshaw. Here you will see a variety of resident and migratory birds.

Day 5 : Bharatpur - Agra
Following breakfast we will visit the bird sanctuary. Afternoon we drive to city of Taj, Agra visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the 16th century Mughal capital en-route.

Day 6 : Agra - Jabalpur
After breakfast in the morning visit Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Afternoon is free for leisure activities. In the evening transfer to railway station for boarding a train to Jabalpur.

Overnight : Overnight train to Jabalpur.

Day 7 - 9 : Jabalpur - Kanha National Park
Early moring we reach Jabalpur railway station from where you will be transfered to your hotel. Day 7 to 9 is meant for wildlife spotting at Kanha National Park. Explore the park via Jeep and Elephant Safaris to spot Kanha’s tigers and many other wildanimals like leopards, gaur, wild pig, antelope, black buck, deers, jackal, hyena and jungle cat. Optional trips to neraby villages and places.

Day 10 : Kanha National Park – Bandhavgarh National Park
In the morning after breakfast we will drive to Bandhavgarh National Park. Upon arrival check into your hotel. Afternoon free to relax. In the evening take a jeep ride to see wildanimals in the national park.

Overnight : Jungle Resort at Bandhavgarh.

Day 11-12 : Bandhavgarh National Park
On Day 11 and 12 we will explore the national park. Bandhavgarh is known for Rewa’s White Tiger and many other animal species. We will spot tigers, cheetal, sambar, wild boar, barking deer and rhesus macaque in the park. Elephant and Jeep Safaris are included in your wildlife trip to Bandhavgarh National Park.

Day 13 : Bandhavgarh - Khajuraho
This day after breakfast drive to Khajuraho which is known for erotic sculptures built between 950 A.D to 1050 A.D. Upon arrival check into the hotel. After some rest we move outside the hotel to see magnificent Khajuraho temples.

Day 14 : Khajuraho – Jhansi
Following breakfast in the morning visit temple complexes in Khajuraho. After sightseeing trip of Khajuraho transfer to Jahnsi railway station for boarding a train to Delhi.

Day 15 : Delhi
Arrival to Delhi railway station in the morning. Meeting and assistance upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day for sightseeing tour of Delhi that include the tourist attractions like Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Raj Ghat, India Ghat etc. In the evening enjoy some shopping in the markets of Delhi.

Day 16 : Delhi Departure
Transfer to Delhi airport for boarding a flight back home.

Our trip was full of excitement, in fact we enjoyed each and every moment of our trip to India. Watching tigers in their natural habitat was above the world experience. In addition, the visit to Khajuraho temples added more to our memorable holiday.


I never though about such a wonderful trip to popular wildlife sanctuaries and national parks of India. All the wildlife parks are home to a variety of wildanimals, but spotting the tigers in Bandhavgarh and Ranthambore was a thrilling experience for me. Besides, the Taj Mahal and erotic sculptures of Khajuraho were equally impressive.
