its luxurious settings and services. This train runs on the Golden Triangle
Circuit and thus covers the three popular destinations of Northern India -
Delhi, Jaipur and Agra. A greater part of the journey is devoted to the
famous cities of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur,
Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Bharatpur. The title, that is Palace on Wheels, goes
after the famous attractions and courtesy of the Rajasthan state.
Train Travel
Palace on Wheels is an inspiration to the popular means of transportation
in India. The train travel is a luxury thrown open to the public and the
tourists. The journey in this mobile palace takes you around some of the
popular cities of Rajasthan like Jaipur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer,
Jodhpur and Bharatpur.
The journey starts from the capital city - Delhi. At around 10.30 P.M. the
train departs from Delhi Cantonment and the journey sets on its course.
Throughout the journey the train travels at night, giving ample day time to
explore the destinations. The first halting stop is Jaipur.
The train reaches the capital city of Rajasthan in the morning and makes
the day available for visiting the popular attractions. The train usually
departs from Jaipur at 5.30 P.M..
The next stop is at Chittaurgarh. Once again the train will leave this
station in the dark and towards the romantic destination - Udaipur. There is
not much time to be spend at this city as the train moves in the afternoon
towards Jaisalmer.
From Jaisalmer the train heads for Jodhpur. The travel leads through the
rich forests of Ranthambhore. There is a brief sojourn, one day, at the
Jodhpur and the train moves on. For the next two days the travel takes to
the regions of Jodhpur and Bharatpur. The last end of the journey is the
famous city Agra. From there on the palace on wheels heads to its base
station - Delhi.
