Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) and several private tour agents provide
necessary items like tents and trek-route maps. Besides, you have to carry a
backpack, in which you can keep basic stuff like eatables, sufficient
clothes, first-aid kit, medicines, torch, lights and many other items of
daily usage.
Climate of Kumaon
The climate of Kumaon is pleasant, the summers are not too hot, while the
winters are cool and comfortable. During the summer months of April - June,
temperature soars to a high of 37°C. In winters the mercury lowers to a
minimum of 0°C. Best time to trek in the Kumaon region is between
April-June and September-November. During winters, you can also enjoy
trekking at lower altitudes of Kumaon Himalayas.
Transportation for Kumaon
Nearest airport is located at Pant Nagar (Nainital). During summers regular
flights ply to Pant Nagar from Delhi and important places of India.
Kathgodam railway station is the nearest rail-head, which has trains from
Delhi and other parts of the country. Good motorable roads connect Kumaon
with imporatant cities and town of India. Frequest buses are available from
Delhi to Nainital, Kathgodam, Kausani and Almora.
